Take a trip to New York and see the city from the air

My daughter and I would love to visit Namibia, taking in the main sights of the Skeleton Coast, Sossusvlei and Swakopmund. She has visited Africa several times, but I am less confident and would prefer an escorted tour that is not too strenuous - perhaps a mixture of camping and lodges - and which won't break the bank. Any ideas how we can combine all this? - Marcia Rhodes, via e-mail
Times travel expert, Julia Brookes, responds: Rainbow Tours (020-7226 1004, www.rainbow tours.co.uk) offers a week's camping safari to Namibia from £745pp sharing. The northern adventure camping safari visits Etosha, Damaraland, the Skeleton Coast and Swakopmund or you can opt for the southern swing safari, which visits Fish River Canyon, Orange River, Lüderitz and Sossusvlei dunes.
For an extra £275 you can combine both trips. Departures are from February 1 to March 13 and April 1 to June 30 and the price includes all flights, transfers, accommodation and most meals. A camp assistant helps with cooking and washing-up and guests are expected to erect and dismantle their own dome tent, but that is as strenuous as it gets.

We have recently returned from a trip to Namibia. Car hire is reasonable and an easy way to get around - what is most expensive in Namibia is the accommodation itself - there are cheaper options but you need to hunt them out. Cardboard travel box based in Windhoek have a great website and really good for advice if self-driving. Our only regret was booking a flight with Air Namibia which was supposed to be direct 10 hours, it isn't despite their website saying it is and all travel agents think it is - it stops in Ghana both outbound and inbound and adds a minimum of 2.5 hours to the flight (or 4 in our case due to technical problems with Ghana flight controls).
