Arbuthnot Banking Group has announced that James Cobb is to join it, on November 1, as group finance director. For the past 13 years Mr Cobb has worked for Citigroup, most recently as deputy chief financial officer and controller of Citigroup's global customer group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa

Investec Private Bank has appointed Jennifer Macintyre and Catherine Kirchmann as senior investment practitioners in its wealth management team. Ms Macintyre, who previously worked for Coutts & Co, will provide investment services to UK-based ultra-high-net-worth customers. Ms Kirchmann, who joins from Spencer House Capital Management, will focus on high-net-worth individuals, with a focus on South African clients

Clarissa Beresford has joined Phoenix Equity Partners as an investment manager. Ms Beresford joins from the investment banking division of JPMorgan, in which she advised on corporate transactions across several sectors, including technology, healthcare, industrials and consumer

Altium appointments

Altium, the investment banking group, has announced the appointments of Robert Jenkins as an equity salesman and Scott Stirling as a sales trader.

Mr Jenkins previously worked for ABN Amro's equity sales team. Mr Stirling joins from Bell Lawrie
